Books are great. However, there are times when it’s move convenient to listen to an audio book instead. The busy life-style that is typical of the new millennium mixes well with the online audio book. We are always on the move, so why not fill all the hours we spend in transit with learning something new or “reading” a book? For instance, audio books are great to listen to when driving to work, when going for a walk, or when doing the daily chores. By listening to books you can learn something new or be entertained while you do all those boring but necessary things in life.
In the nineties you had to buy audio books on CDs or cassettes, or rent them at your local library, but today we can download an online audio book directly to our computers and mp3 players. Instantly available, you don’t have to wait for the post to deliver your tapes, or to brave the wind and snow to visit the library. With a click of a button you can get the title you want. As an added bonus, the downloadable versions are often cheaper than their printed counterparts as well.
Audio book downloads are available from a wide range of online stores. Best sellers are made into digital audio books within weeks of their publication, but you can also download and listen to books that have been published years ago. Most of the CDs and cassette recordings have also been turned into downloadable books, so my guess is that you will find most of the books you want in audio book format. You can get classic novels, New York Times bestsellers, business-related books, self-help guides, and virtually any category you can think of. These digital libraries stock tens of thousands of titles.
In addition to selling individual titles, several online audio book stores have a subscription based membership as well. With a subscription, you can download a set number of books and publications each month often at a highly discounted rate. Depending on how many books you listen to, this might be a good idea. It’s also a good idea to browse about before purchasing an audio book. You can save some hard earned dollars by taking a look at various providers before making a purchase.
